Privacy Policy
The Kennel Club has issued guidance to registered societies on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will came into force throughout the EU from 25th May 2018. GDPR requires that personal data is processed lawfully fairly and transparently (as did the Data Protection Act).
The Norfolk and Suffolk HPR Field Trial Club Committee has reviewed the guidance and prepared and approved a new GDPR Privacy Notice and Data Retention Policy.
Other activities include updating Membership Application and Event forms, the website and our MailChimp mailing lists to reflect the changes needed for GDPR.
The Committee has assessed that in the majority of cases the lawful basis for processing personal data falls under the category of ‘contractual necessity’. Examples would include the ‘Provision of membership services’ such as sending out emails about AGMs, ‘Upholding the Association Rules and Code of Ethics’; and ‘Compliance with Kennel Club Rules and Regulations’.
Under the category of ‘legitimate interest’ is data processing such as sending out MailChimp emails with details of forthcoming events including monthly training invitations. Although we assess that these activities do not require ‘consent’, the Committee has chosen to provide a mechanism for members to opt-out of receiving them and an email will be sent out to all members (with valid email addresses) allowing those who choose to, to update their preferences. New members will be give the option to opt-in when they join.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact a member of the Committee or the Club Secretary (norfolkandsuffolkhprsec@gmail.com)
